The Mouths of Dead Men
I walk the streets
Hungry, tired like a worn out coat
Smothered by the memories
The doors of houses with their toothless grin
The faces long since gone
Perhaps they will find where they buried me
Music plays somewhere
A melody that I once knew
But dancing is for the living
I would escape this tomb
That was built by you
But still, I am here grieving
I see those eyes
That we're once full of life
Yet the mirror tries to deceive me
I see the empty spaces now
The cold edges of night
The fine line between truth and heresy
Of what use are words
Since there is a pain I cannot convey
Where the flesh has been torn from my soul
Of what use are promises
When my bones are prone to decay
And I am languishing in this hole
It's all perfectly fine
You can fill the void
And perhaps forget what a came before
It never mattered
Not once at all
And it shall not anymore
